Punky Ballerina

I do not at all claim to be "out the fashion box" or a complete and utter fashionista. But...I fall head over heel for some quirky ass shoes. I like to think of it as my thing. I love wearing a basic outfit (honestly 90% of my wardrobe is an ode to Billy Joel and Bruce Springsteen) with quirky pieces. Shoes are as you all know my ULTIMATE weakness. Shoes have a hotline to my credit card. Even my dad takes note on what shoes I wear home when I'm visiting. I love shoes. I usually don't fall for the typical Louboutin (not that there is anything wrong with them) it's not my pace or style, for me it has lost that quirky aspect, it's fallen into the commercial bracket. I love when my friends call my shoes ugly makes me feel I have achieved something great because I know our tastes differ (there are rare occasions all my friends love my shoes. That's a day our hormones aline)

So as the story of my life goes...The SS16 Miu Miu show blew me away as usual. What blew me away were the ballerinas, soft satin meets aggressive black straps with one gingham and one black wrap-round ribbon. Swoon. So this is how a serial runway obsessive works...you add the picture to a special folder of the season pieces you want, you go into the store and harass your favourite sales assistant until they tell you they've only just got the buying book and that your name is added to the size list and you'll get the call when they come in. You walk past your favourite stores religiously and also as it is on the road you work on...panic because they're in the store window but no one has contacted you and then your mind goes into complete overdrive and you sob because you think they've forgotten your obsessive compulsive stalker face but in reality the Visual team are just doing their job and getting your attention. Cue a sea of online websites selling what you want and selling out within hours before you see your emails, you return to the boutique who at this point think you're insane but kinda cute too but they only have the satin version which make you look like you have a serious case of boat feet (never ever EVER take the judgement of others, if you feel your feet look big, you make the decision), everyone you message a picture to tells you you're being a dick because they're ugly, but in your heart you know they're wrong they just haven't seen the leather versions, you later remember that you really don't care if your friends don't like them.(Dear friends I love and value your opinions more than you know. No shade just pure love) its your money. You don't buy the satin because in all honesty desperation is not our middle name...perfection is. Doubt sits in your mind...due to asking people what they think...then that moment you see what you knew was right.....and it's love. pure addictive love. The right size, right colour, right material and overall you know you will eat like a bird just to sleep in them.

So...this is exactly how it went when I bought my Gucci Dionysus bag. Everyone hated it out of my friends, Gucci is still regarded Chavy by people who have their head stuck in the wrong time frame...let's move along with the times Alessandro is here. Although I am happy if the commercial buyers of this world are still scared of a little GG action...it's retro, no one is expecting you to walk out the house a la Daniella Westbrook style. Subtle is key. I do not deny that I couldn't agree with Gucci pre Michele, I had bought the odd few bags before this (my soho disco and my lady web) under the sheer fact I knew Alessandro had his hands all over these, the pre AM was not my cuppa. Frieda had taken the brand to a stagnant point of bronze boredom, Alessandro literally blossomed like the floral arrangements on the two-piece suits. Now this is what I want. I live my life searching for the perfect vintage rings, the perfect vintage style tops. and lets not forget who doesn't want to walk around in fur slip ons? If you don't then you seriously don't know what you're missing and I suggest continuing that love affair for Louboutin….

Stohrer Paris

Afternoon all,

I hope everyone had a lovely bank holiday. Sorry for the lack of posts. I spent a week in Paris, not for work but for a holiday! Now I'm always in Paris for work and I never actually get to explore and take the city during the day due to work and running around like a headless chicken. When it comes to the evening I just absorb the night life with my boys (actually that is pretty blissful). So now me and the boyfriend have made a little tradition every year of going to Paris for a week during the August bank holiday for Rock En Seinewhich is a brilliant music festival, more on that later! We had an amazing week, and I really wanted to share with you all my experience at the oldest patisserie in Paris...Stohrer.

The patisserie is laced with so much history, it started in 1725 and you can really feel the history in the area with the cobbled streets and local businesses. We left of to the last day as we wanted a lavish treat to take back to London. And god it really was a treat. I cannot express how amazing it was. I walked away with 3 cakes, a pain au chocolate and a chocolate donut and I have no regrets admitting that! The only regret I have is not buying more!

I loved the outfit I chose for the day. I found these amazing Chanel like jogging bottoms from H&M in Paris and loved the mix blend of grey and pink so much I got the grey pair also. I paired it with my awesome vintage Givenchy tux jacket which I found in Paris the last time I was there, this amazing pink casual top from Primark (seriously so so soft!), my trusty Chanel backpack (honestly I don't know what I would of done without it in my life. Major game changer!) and my new buy 3 days into the holiday, mySaint Laurent fang print skaters (from the mens collection. Probably the best thing about having size 41 feet!). This was on my shopping list pre heading to london as they sold so quickly in the uk and my feet were aching so much from wearing my chloe boots all day Friday for day 1 of the festival. So I thought why not wear them to the festival? They are sneakers, they're not just shoes to stare at and they are comfortable. Oh and of course they went with everything I had! I was a little scared as I knew they would get dusty quick but hey nothing a few wet wipes can't fix after. I really took to them that I wore them the Saturday, Sunday and home on Wednesday. I can happily say they are so worth it, and unbelievably comfy!

I cannot wait to share the rest of my style diary with you guys from this trip along with my extra special purchases.

Summer In The City

 I love this outfit. This top was bought on a whim when I was rushing through Primark. I had my doubts initially but as it is with Primark I went in with no time to try and just ran with it. I am so glad I did because I am so in love with this top. It looks perfect with my boy shorts and even more perfect with my jeans. It's also deceptive as I thought this would need a nude camisole and it didn't which makes this more breathable for the summer. I also love the print, the colours are so vibrant and the print mixes the new floral hawaian theme which I am obsessed with. Thanks Primark! I can't wait to take this to Paris in 2 weeks as I think it would be perfect for the festival and the city.

These Rag & Bone shorts are my current favourites in my wardrobe. I bought a size bigger because these were on sale in the outlet store in Bicester. I am glad I went with the bigger size as usually when you size up with your shorts your legs look thinner. Top fashion tip right there! Plus I am not one to have my ass cheeks hanging out for the world to basque in. No thanks. A little dignity for this soon to be 27 year old! 

You would never think looking at the photos that this little secret garden is hidden behind Oxford Street (parallel to Selfridges). It is complete nirvana, quiet and serene the complete opposite for the city. I love this little area, it really captures old london and now I've adopted this little area as my new lunching spot with the girls. Cue an outfit post. 

This was such a perfect day to rock out the Chanel sandals and shorts. Plus it was the first day of the Mulberry sale, which if you follow me on Instagram and Twitter you'll know I bought myself a pretty new bag. Eeek.  

 My burgundy Chanel Jumbo has to be one of my favourite classic bags in my collection. This bag was from the 2010 Paris Shanghai collection and it's been in my heart since I bought it. I use her less now as  it is really hard to get this colour or a gold hardwear in Chanel. All of my friends know how much this bag means to me, so when they saw the matching sandals from Cruise 2013 collection they were kind enough to buy them for me as a lovely present. How sweet!

Dior Fever

Evening all,

I hope everyone has enjoyed their weekend. I loved how Halloween fell on a Thursday which meant that Halloween was dragged out over 2 weekends! Alas I must admit I get more excited over bonfire night. I love the significance it has for us Brits (even if it's all about the fireworks now) and our politics, boring it may seem but It truly is something spectacular in history! I cannot wait to get my gloves on and go to a bonfire show in East London on Tuesday.

So my week was a lovely, short working week due to me being reunited with my love Doreen who came to stay with me which always equals trouble. So after being apart for a few months we had a lot of shopping and food to gorge on. We did good. From Knightsbridge to Bond street to Oxford circus! Byron, Hakkasan, Home made dinner (made by my lovely boyfriend), Chinese food in china town oh and lots of bubbles and macaroons! Yep I'm still full!!!!!

So whilst me and Doreen were out on our shopping trip I suggested heading to Dior to have a little look at what Dior had to offer...bad bad mistake. I want everything. I met the perfect houndstooth slippers and matching Lady Dior bag (Marion Coltiard already has it arghhhh!). So Doreen bought the shoes and I am left sitting here Diorless and contemplating life without Dior houndstooth slippers.

To make things worse myself and Doreen were asked exclusively if we wanted to place orders for the limited edition holographic Lady Dior bag. The bag is perfection.

This all got me thinking about SS14 Dior and how Raf Simons has redefined Dior. I must admit I wasn't the biggest Dior fan during John Galliano's time. I loved certain aspects but for me there was something missing. That elegance, that polished cutting edge look. Galliano was edgy which the likes of Carrie Bradshaw welcomed, but Raf has filled this girly void for myself.  He seems to have brought the brand back to life, refreshing bags and shoes and making them as cutting edge as the couture and runway shows. A task many people thought would be daunting for Raf who came from such creative freedom at Jil Sander and had to work to a certain Dior cache.  As Raf embarked on his third ready-to-wear collection (SS14) it is clear Dior is confident with their new leader and allowing him to exaggerate his collections more and more. Why? Because we love it. The consumer market begs for the old to be the new.

Spring Summer 14 was set in the garden of Musee Rodin in a giant tent which was transformed into a beautiful garden and the weather was sunny and glorious to match (PFW was a very warm and sunny affair this season!)

The collection was as epic as the surroundings. Floral silk dresses with lots of pleats, high waisted black shorts, cuts to flatter curves, a colour pallet fit to outshine a rainbow, T-shirts over stretchy skirts, snake skin textures, racer back dresses, embellishment on the side of gowns finishing with beautiful gowns in metallic floral jacquard. My favourite aspect of the collection were the very cute sewn on houndstooth badges, the pleating on gowns that started at the top to the midriff and the incredibly beautiful reversed lantern skirts. Raf made it clear in this collection, Dior is a every woman brand. Focusing on Dior shapes and the modern silhouettes. Swoon.
